MOMMY REVIEW: Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response

I wasn't expecting a deodorant to be in a voxbox, but it was. Normally, I'm happy to change up my daily live by routine but this one kind of interfered with my routine.

My routine goes as follows 1) Get up 2) Take shower 3) brush teeth 4) rush and put on deodorant 5) do all things that involve my one year old son. With the clinical strength deodorant the directions read to put this stuff on at bedtime after a shower so instead of morning showers I switched to night showers for about a week.

While, I wasn't really happy following this routine I noticed that my deodorant lasted way longer than expected. Like any other mom you may know that running around with a one year old is crazy stressful. You're constantly up and down, trying to calm him/her down, changing diapers, wiping noses, running around the yard *especially for a new walker*, feeding, picking up toys....if that isn't stressful then you must be super mom. At the end of the day after you've tired out and settled down do you ever notice that your deodorant leaves you with a wet, musky ODOR? I've switched brands every month in search of a deodorant that will last to battle the funk after a toddler filled day.

I've went from my mom recommended "TUSKY" to some of AVON'S 24 HOUR Deodorant
. None of which helped in  this type of funk. So for me to be sent a deodorant that says it combats some of the worst types of funk I was more than skeptical, because honestly, after trying "24 hour deodorants" that don't work, what else would?

In my box I was sent a full sized product of Clinical Strength Stress response in the fragrance serene citrus.

It smells great. It's not cheap smelling like most deodorants that try to hard to impress. I don't want to walk around with my deodorant overpowering my body mist or perfume. As far as long lasting it's excellent in that department. After running around with Junior a whole day it lasted way into the night up until my next shower.I didn't like that I had to rub in a lot for it to kinda of disappear.

One thing that you should know is that you MUST put this deodorant on at NIGHT.  I forgot to put it on one night, and just applied it that morning.....it didn't work. It was a disaster. I smelled funky and for now on I don't forget to put it on at night. Two clicks before bedtime. Always remember that.

MOMMY REVIEW: OLAY FRESH EFFECTS CLEANSING SYSTEM

When I received my sweetheart voxbox the first thing I noticed was the olay cleansing system. I had only heard about it by commercials since it is a fairly new product. Upon opening it I noticed the cleansing brush was a little bit smaller than I had believed it to be, but in my sake never judge a product by its size. I've learned that over the last couple of months since doing reviews.

    On to my review.  I must note that I did use this for a week without using any other cleansers to notice the difference. Let me say this now, the mini brush packs a punch. I used it the first time and it felt as if I had gotten the best facial I've ever had. My face felt so refreshed and looked 10x cleaner than it does when I'm just using regular soap and water. The cleansing brush maneuvered perfectly around my tzone areas. The brush was designed perfectly for those areas.
 The cleanser itself packed a heavy punch. It doesn't leave an oily feeling nor does it leave your face dry. It's the perfect combination of smooth, fresh and clean.

The only issue that I saw with this was the brush. It's small and I kind of expected it to be a bit bigger than it is.

In all honesty, I've been using olay products for some years now and I've never ran into a product that left me dissatisfied. I'm not surprised that this system is perfect (*in my opinion) it's everything a girl needs and wants and trust me it'll replace ALL of your cleansers.

MOMMY REVIEW: INFLUENSTER SWEETHEART VOXBOX

Ahhh, I love opening my email and finding Influenster's emails. It makes me a bit anxious because either you qualify or you don't. So far, lady luck has been on my side! Last week, I received my Sweetheart voxbox and was sooooo happy at what was inside.

I realized by the questions they asked that this wasn't going to be a home oriented voxbox but instead a sort of beauty box of some sort. When I opened I was so happy to find:

TV REVIEW: THE TASTE TUESDAYS 8/7 c on ABC

If you haven't tuned in the taste you should, because your missing out on one of the best cooking shows since           Iron chef. I'm not a big fan of the iron chef series or any cooking show besides hell kitchen but when I got an invitation to watch it I went ahead and caught on a couple of episodes. I'm glad I did because I'm completely hooked.

The show is set up well. Each judge has four chefs on their team. It sorta reminds me of X-factor. Like other judging shows, each judge must vote on the chefs dish not knowing which dish belongs to who. The show starts off with an immunity competition, whoever wins that is immune from being eliminated and you have guest judges usually helping your team. After the immunity competition the chefs go into cooking immediately and usually they have an hour to do this. The judging round is complete when each judge either gives each chef a red or a gold star. The competitor with the gold star is free from of elimination while the red star competitors go up on the chopping block.

Either you hate or love this show. Either way let me give you the total rundown of the cast.

Let's start with the judge panel.

 You have four judges LUDO, NIGELLA, ANTHONY, AND  Brian MALARKEY.

Ludo Lefebvre is the creator of LudoBites an event that happens annually in Los Angeles. He's also recognized as one of the world's greatest chef by Realis& Chateaux. He also appeared on Top Chef Masters, Iron Chef America and Today's Show.

Nigella Lawson who started work as a book reviewer and restaurant critic is also apart of the cast. She became a best selling author when she published her first cookbook "HOW TO EAT" in 1998, which sold 300,000 copies. She doesn't like to be known as a celebrity chef but wants people to know that she only cooks for her own pleasure.

Brian Malarkey started his own cooking journey when he advanced to the finale of Bravo's Top Chef Miami. .Although, he didn't win his career progressed as if he was a winner. In the last two years he's opened five restaurants in San Diego.He's also written a cookbook "Come Early: Stay, Late."

Anthony Bourdain is renowned chef who wrote the book "Kitchen Confidential  a New York Times Best seller in 2000.  He also hosts "Anthony Bourdain: No reservations" an award winning show on the Travel Channel. He's also has been inducted into the James Beard Foundation Who's Who of Food and Beverages of America.



In all, I think they did a wonderful job selecting judges. I have a love and hate relationship with the judges though. Ludo is my least favorite. He sorta reminds me of Simon Cowell of food. He has this attitude and it seems like he tries to hard in my opinion. I think my favorite is Brian. He's more of a relaxed judge and he knows how to talk to the contestants. 

With the show being in it's 4th week of airing there are 14 contestants. This week show featured Mia, Greg, Erika, Adam, Diane, Sarah, Paul, Uno, Huda, Nihanarise, Jeff, Lauren, Khristianne, and Shawn. All of them are professional chefs except for Sarah who is a food blogger. In my opinion, I think she is very talented and hopes she progresses to the end. I really don't like Greg, as he is very arrogant and mouthy. Most of the times those mouthy individuals only last for about 5 or 6 episodes....and sometimes they progress to the end but never win the competition.  Nihanarise is very talented chef and I think she has the skills to win the whole competition.

Gillette Venus Embrace

If you're a bit squeamish or aren't open-minded  to an honest review you may want to click off lol!!

Okay, so in order to give a good accurate opinion about this razor I decided to grow my leg hair out. Yes this may be a little weird because I'm a lady but at the same time....How can I give an honest review If I haven't clearly used the razor?

Exactly!!!

For this particular review I used Gilette Venus Embrace Olay cartridge.

It took me a whole 3-4 weeks to grow my hair out on my legs. My husband was beyond disgusted but I did this for the sake of a review lol.  I'm of African American descent and I can get pretty ashy and hairy if I wanted to so um don't mind the pictures of my ashy legs lol

So as you can see in this first picture my hair on my legs is extremely long. It has been this way for like I said 3-4 weeks. Yes, I did go on a dry spell while having my legs this way lol lol.

So on to the review.

Let's start with the razor itself. The razor is soft and comfortable to use. It has grips so when you're shaving you won't drop it like you do with other razors...think in term of the plastic disposables. It has five blades so you can get that close shave and two moisture bars. With the razor any Gillette Venus refill fits this so don't don't throw the head away!! This will save you lots of money

When I started shaving I didn't use any shaving cream or soaps to help with the shaving process. I'm glad I didn't because the razor kind of provides all that you need to help get a closer shave. The moisture bars (one on top and one on bottom) kind of lathered my skin which you'll see in the next picture

The moisture bars really helped my skin feel so soft. I didn't notice any nicks when I shaved with this razor which is a good thing in my opinion. I did feel that the bars kind of got in the way of me shaving to my full potential but overall it did a great job.

Overall my legs look better and feel way smoother. I know my husband will be more than happy that this is over with because who likes to feel man legs on a woman's body!!

I do recommend you go out and get this razor.  My legs are visibly smoother and softer. Now you can see my tattoo without the hair covering it.

Palmolive Fresh Infusions: My favorite Scent

So, I've had a while to test out all the scents that I was sent by Influenster. I must say they all smell wonderfully.  BUT....

My favorite scent out of the whole bunch has to be the Lime Basil. When I first smelled it I brought me back to my childhood. Not when I was stuck in the kitchen washing dishes, but when I was eating. Not dinner but dessert. It smells like lime Jell-O!

It's a very pleasant smell. One that I don't mind in my kitchen. When I first opened the box and used it for the first time I had an everlasting craving for Jell-O. I went to go pick some up from my local grocery store and had a way with it. LOL!

I shared my other scent the Lemon thyme with my mom. She loves anything that smells like lemon so I thought I'd give her that one. When I first took it to her she gave me the "what are you trying to say face" lol. I told her I wasn't throwing hints but was given these to try out and give my opinions on. Like I said in my earlier post, my family has always used Dawn. She called me the next day and was super ecstatic and wanted to buy more bottles. I'm so relieved that she did like it because my mom is one of those types who doesn't like to try anything new and she's super hard to please.

Mom Review: Influenster Palmolive Voxbox

So I qualified for another voxbox. *Yay* This one came as a bit of a surprise because I did the pre-qualification survey and didn't get a confirmation email until after I received the box. It happens sometimes and that's okay.

In this box I received (3) full sized Palmolive dish detergents, a welcome card, and (5) $1.50 off coupons to give to friends.. This comes in handy as I am the primary dishwasher in my home. *Fun fun fun*  On the welcome card it suggests  that you share one dish detergent with a friend and I'll be giving my mother one. The scents are  Ginger White Tea, Lime Basil, and Lemon Thyme. Out of all the scents I fell in love with Lime Basil.

So for this review I'll be mainly covering Lime Basil.


As in any household, I grew up on Dawn. I love Dawn and never strayed away from them. So to get a Dawn addict away from them is a touch shot. Palmolive is one of those detergents that I've tried before and never been too impressed.  So for the sake of this review I did my own little study and I do hope you enjoy it.

Palmolive- Lime Basil

The first test was to see how each bubbled up or foamed up. I use the same amount of hot water with each detergent.








In this test Palmolive won.

Dawn - Original 

The final test is the soaking test. I took two plates that were in my sink for a week *yes, I was a little lazy this week*

**For this test I let one plate soak in PALMOLIVE and one in Dawn for an elapsed time of 5 minutes. Each plate was rinsed off to remove the soap for the photograph to show the results of soaking***

Palmolive-Lime Basil

Hands down- Palmolive wins.....I've always used Dawn so I was quite surprised at my findings.  I'm glad I received this product. My house smells better and my dishes are cleaner.
