Mom Review: Influenster Cosmo VoxBox 2012

Influenster is community of trendsetters who give opinions about products and experiences. You must be invited or accepted to join. So naturally, when I was accepted to join I was super excited as usual when I try new experiences. I completed surveys truthfully and answered questions and gave product reviews on products I've already tried. Maybe two weeks later, I got a survey asking me some general questions because I was preselected for a voxbox. It didn't say what type of voxbox, but once again I answered the answers truthfully and within a couple days later I got the email that a voxbox is being sent out to me.  Now, if you aren't the type of person who likes to do reviews or give honest opinions...THEN INFLUENSTER IS NOT FOR YOU.

Anyway, so I got the Voxbox two weeks after receiving the email that it was being sent out to me. When I saw the white box sitting in the mailbox I was super ecstatic and couldn't wait to go inside the house to open my box.  I opened my box and saw a little white card basically explaining my products and the retail prices of them. To be totally honest, I thought they were going to cheap it out and send me little sample size products to review but they didn't. Each item was a full size item and to my surprise each item lived up to my expectations of them.

So the first thing that came in the box was two FriXion pens by pilot one in black and the other in purple. Just looking at them you think okay there just pens with a really cool design. Underneath the designs are two pens with very smooth writing that you can't get anywhere else unless you tend to spend a fortune on pens. There is also another feature to these cool pens...an eraser. I have mixed feelings about the eraser. It erases just like a pencil if not better (no mess) BUT when you erase you can kinda notice what was erased. Does that make sense? Anyhow, besides that fact they are really good pens if you can get past the eraser thing. Maybe it's just me or how I'm writing but I did notice it.

My second item which should have been the first on this list would be Ghirardelli Gourmet Milk Sea Salt Escape chocolate bar. Let me start by saying that I was a little skeptic to try a food that was sent in the box but I'm glad I took that risk. It was the PERFECT combination of salty and sweet. The chocolate melted in my mouth for each bite. I actually feel bad because I was suppose to get a picture of it but I was too anxious  to wait. With each bite I got a the perfect taste of an almond, a little sea salt, and a little chocolate. When I say this is the best chocolate around TAKE MY WORD FOR IT!!!! To be honest it tastes like a luxurious chocolate that you would pay fifty dollars for but at $2.76 you just don't expect this type of gourmet!

My third item I received in the box was a .25 fl oz of Forever Red Eau de Parfume found exclusively at Bath &Body Works. Looking at the bottle I was just saying to myself I hope this isn't one of those perfumes that will leave you with an everlasting headache for days. I was pleasantly surprised to be honest. To me it had a hint of marshmallows but when spritzed or sprayed or however you apply your perfume you can just smell that vanilla in it. I think this is a perfume that should be only wore on a date. It gives a hint of a sexy seductress to me...at least that's how I felt when I applied it.  My husband isn't to fond of perfumes or anything that requires his attention away from his Call of Duty but once I walked by him with Forever Red on....let's just say he didn't pick up COD again that night! LOL.

The fourth product sent to me was a Venus embrace razor with a cartridge attached and a separate venus olay cartridge. I didn't use the attachment that was already on the razor...I used the olay one. I've used a similar but different brand razor just like this one and needless to say I was UNHAPPY with the results. It left my skin the same way it felt before I decided to shave. So when I saw the venus embrace of course like any woman scorned I was more than hesitant to try but for the sake of my honest review I decided to give it a shot. As previously mentioned I put the Olay cartridge on...my hair was maybe about 2-3 weeks into its growth or maybe longer since it is colder weather (for the sake of your stomach let's go with 2-3 weeks okay lol). I didn't use any shaving gel  just because I wanted to see the outcome of my skin would be. I shaved both of my legs with not even a nick. I did wash my skin off after shaving and it felt so smooth.  Olay has always made me smile so I didn't expect to be totally disappointed.

All in all this box is the best. It is my first one and hopefully not my last one.

Dino Lingo Language Learning Programs for Kids!

Dino Lingo spanish for kids is an award winning language learning program. They use dvds, flashcards, and other visual materials to help your child understand a different language. The spanish dvd is in all spanish so that way your child doesn't get confused with translations.

I had the opportunity to view a clip of the dvd. My son and I enjoyed it. He loved the graphics annd the wide variety of colors. The spanish was accurate and wasn't as confusing as many other dvds I've watched in the past.. I think they took something complicated and boring and made it fun, interesting and entertaining.

Dino Lingo has different sets but the biggest includes 5 dvds, 150 flashcards, dinosaur posters, a vocabulary book, a coloring book, spanish flag, a parents guide, and a plush toy. This set would make the perfect christmas gift for the holidays! It's only at $148.95 a great price for learning something new.

If you sound interested check out their website: http://dinolingo.com/languages/spanish.html#.ULjTpuT7Ju0

Taking SUGGESTIONS FOR TOY REVIEWS!!!

Have you seen a toy that you wanted to buy lately but you're unsure if your child will play with it. Shoot me a suggestion and I'll buy that toy and do an honest upfront review for you. I can buy junior but so many toys but I've been having fun doing these reviews!!

6 Month Check up *with 9 month check up update*

Ahhh, who doesn't like those appointments when you're forced to watch your little one shriek in pain? I for one know I don't.

It seems like these appointments gets better with time, you know like old wine, right? It's not about the shots and how to overcome fevers and fussiness its about sitting and chatting with your childs' doctor. I personally like it. I value my son's doctor because for every sniffle, sneeze, and cough he's been there for junior. Those are rare doctors, right?  Aside all of that he's open and he listens to every concern that I may have.

Anyway, I thought this 6 month checkup would be an in and out. Just knowing his growth, weight and height and getting his shots. Unfortunately, I was wrong. It started with the normal eye check. He looked into his eyes and took a double glance. He turned the lights off and looked again.. He noticed what I've been noticing for the past 6 months. My sons eye is just a bit off. He says its nothing to worry about but something that needs to bee looked at.

After, his eye examination he rechecked his head. His head circumference is at 39 inches. He ordered an mri..

This is what I'm scared of the most. Being as I don't have other moms to talk with about my fears this is just one of them. I don't like the fact that they'll be putting my baby to sleep. I mean its safe but it just worries me to death.

But anywho, He is 14lbs 14oz...25 inches long...39 inches head cirumference....developmentally he's doing well...he's crawling almost and he likes his solids..not as much as breast milk, but he likes it

UPDATE:  Junior is now 16lbs 8 oz and 26 inches long at 9 months

Toy Review: Vtech Grow & Discover Music Studio

Who doesn't like the sound of a child banging endlessly at a keyboard with a drum? Well, I do. As long as it's plastic lol.

Vtech was around when I was a child so I thought why not give them a try for Junior. So far so good! I saw this at my local toys store on my monthly toy buy for junior. So, anywho, let's get into the review let's start with design.

Design: 10. Vtech excelled in this category. I love the fact that the legs for the piano are removable. That way you can take it with you on car rides, or let them  play with it in bed. Your child can also play with it sitting or standing.  The drum and guitar are removable. The only downside to them being removable is that they don't make sounds once removed. It would have been a perk if they did.

Sounds/Music: 8 I would have loved for the lady to sing some nursery rhymes but she didn't. It came with its own little made up song "sing and play dance and move" something along those lines. It was cute but a bit annoying.  The microphone is like an actual microphone it fades the song a bit so that your child can feel like they are in the song themselves. Like I said earlier, the drum and guitar makes sounds but only when they are in the correct position on the keyboard.

Is it worth it? Yes, in my opinion. It's fun for the family if you all like to pretend. Dad can take the drums, mom can take the guitar, big brother or sister can turn the mic towards them, and baby can rock out on the keyboard! Its something to keep baby active and laughing. GOOD JOB VTECH!

Mommies Opinion: Doggie Doo Game

I know most of you have seen the commercial of the game where the puppy or dog is fed then takes a poop.  I mean I'm not one to criticize a company but how in the world is this fun to kids?  I don't know I'm missing the point of the game but its gross.

Kids take concepts like this and apply it to real life. I personally don't want my kid going around picking up random dog poop.  I just had to vent because people are actually buying this crap * no pun intended.*

If you don't know the game or haven't heard about it look it up on youtube.

Toy Review: Leapfrog My pal Scout

I applaud leapfrog for being a company whose toys are mainly focused on education. Getting this particular toy for junior was just the learning aspect. The one main thing that caught my eye with Scout is that he knows your child's name *not out of the box you must plug him into your computer and program him*.

Scout comes preloaded with songs but you can go to leapfrogs website and program him to play songs out of their selections. The personalized songs are the best because they say your child's name in them. You can also program Scout to learn your child's favorite food, favorite color, and most of all their favorite nursery rhymes.

Design: 7.  I like the fact that Scout comes in green or if you have a little girl (Violet comes in purple ). I wish there were different colors such as a blue or an orange. My main reason for giving it a 7 is because to me Scout is a little bulky because of the battery compartment/voicebox. The paws are hard for a child to press especially an infant who doesn't understand the concept. I think they should have targeted it to the 12 month group.

Music 10. Like I mentioned earlier I love the fact that Scout says Juniors name and made learning his name a big game. Other than the personalized songs on his right foot there are lullabies. This came in handy actually especially when Junior was a little fussy at night. It really helped to put him to sleep.

Lights: 5. I was disappointed in this part of the toy. Scout heart lights up on certain songs and on others it doesn't. I don't know if this is a glitch or if he's factory programmed this way, but I would have loved for his heart to light up on all songs.

**Scout comes with a usb cord and batteries***

Overall, this is a pretty great teddy bear despite the minor things I listed. It caught juniors attention and when he's super fussy I can hand him Scout and play him a lullaby to fall asleep to.

Toy Review: Fisher Price Brilliant Basic Musical Activity walker

In my search to find Junior a perfect toy that will have him standing or walking in no time, I found the FIsher Price Brillant Basic Activity walker.  In my perfect little world I thought buying this toy will have junior instantly walking with no problems...lol....he isn't by the way but he's learning to stand with this walker. I didn't want to go traditional and get the big walker that my mom suggested I get. The only reason I was so against the traditional walker was my fear of him bumping into something that could have harmed him.

So, on to my product review.

Price: 10+...I give this a ten because compared to all other companies or models. fisher price happened to be the cheapest.

:Design" 10+ Just because it has a cheap price doesn't mean its cheaply made. The guitar when pushed down or up makes a guitar sound,, The saxophone makes sounds also. I was a little afraid for him to stick his finger in the tambourine dial i thought it was going to get stuck. lol.

Music: 10 + Some of these tunes are familiar of my childhood and I really liked that aspect. Like all toys though it can get pretty annoying but is very entertaining to the child.

Overall, this is a good little walker or if your child isn't ready to stand you can take it off the stand and put it on the floor. Its key points are to help with balance and coordination and I really recommend it for the older infant about 9 months to use as a walker.  Remember to buy 3 AAA batteries because as I had to find out the hard way it doesn't come with it.

Toy Review: Fisher price Go baby go Poppity pop musical dino

So, Christmas is around the corner and I've decided to do maybe daily or weekly reviews on toys that I've purchased just to give you a hint on what to buy a baby in your family or a friends baby. So my first review will be on FISHER PRICES GO BABY GO POPPITY POP MUSICAL DINO.

I purchased this from toys r us while it was on sale (yes they do have sales). I've been eyeing this toy for a while but was afraid that junior wasn't old enough to understand the concept. I WAS EVER SO WRONG.

He loves it!!!

Design: I'll give this about a 8 on the rating scale. Just because of the edges going around the top of the dino's tale and belly. Junior is just learning to stand at 9 months so I'm afraid that he'll fall and bump his head on one of those edges while he uses the toy to stand. Besides that, the color is perfect. Just bright enough to keep his attention.

Music: I'll give this a 9. I did like the music choices, I just wish that the songs were just a bit longer.

The ball popping: I'll give this aspect of the toy a 10. It really keeps Junior entertained as to what is going on with the toy itself. He tries to figure out how the balls are popping. Really its fun just to see him playing with the toy itself.

Overall as a parent, I love this toy myself. It lights up his face every time its on. I say this is a great toy idea for a child whose already standing or at least knows how to keep his or her balance.
If you are interested in buying I will post the link to fisher price and toys r us and you can go from there.

First WORDS

I always look forward to the day where I can have a conversation with my little sunshine delight. It may be sooner than I know. Junior is now 6 months as of July 13th. He's been doing these little murmurs which sounds like "dada" and "yeah". His father and I always say that's he's way of arguing with us.

Day 1: Introducing ourselves

Welcome to Juniors blog. It will be ALMOST ALWAYS about junior and living with him.

If you don't know sit back and let me tell you our story.

Way before Junior was born I met his dad online. That would be about 6 years before his entrance in this world. We met on a site that's no longer available but at the time it was called "collegeluv." I was young and really had no business on there, but if it wasn't for that said site you wouldn't be here reading this dear blog.  Anyway, my husband as he's known now was in Kentucky at the Earle C. Clements Job corps and I was stuck here in lonely SC. After about six months of "computer love" came the day that I met him......and instantly  upon setting eyes on him i fell in LOVE. Two years later we were happily married!

Fast forward three years later. I found out I was pregnant. WE were overjoyed and really really excited. Our first appointment went smoothly but as the weeks progressed I started bleeding. We thought we were going to lose our little bundle of joy but he held in there. I was immediately put on bedrest at 12 weeks. The worst part of pregnancy is being stuck in a bed all day with almost nothing to do

Nine months later, Junior was born at 40 weeks and one day weighing 6lbs and 7oz. That had to be the best day of my life. The day I created a little monster lol. Every since then he's been the shine in our house! Now, he'll be in yours almost always every SINGLE DAY.  From reviews and silly videos, to my rants and raves.  STAY TUNED!!
